Blue Peter has beat us to it!

Image
Image via Wikipedia Walked into the house after work when Kerry shouted to me to see what was on TV. Blue Peter had spent their summer holiday in Japan . The link shows their diary what they got upto. Tokyo was their first report with one of the main presenters helping out with NTV 's best show Kaso Taisho . Remember the Pepsi Max adverts with the Kung Fu puppetry people in black suits and live actors? That's what Kaso Taisho is. Still looking for live performances at the TV studios as they seem to do shows during the day... All will be revealed in our next entries if we successful.

Off the hook

Boat Show me up daddy-o

This time next week we'll be supping noodles, experiencing neck ache and going 'wow' alot as we experience Tokyo. All that remains before the holiday is the details of what to bring with us. Checking out the weather has been hopeful. Japan is ignoring the European Autumn and has been averaging around 24 degrees 'C' with highs of 31C!!! Okinawa, the tropical island south of Japan has been hitting nearly 34C. The weekend was a parent catch-up. My dad came down for his annual trip to the Southampton Boat Show which I tagged along. Got to see a newer version of his motor boat made by Azimut. The name sounds crap but the boat is a luxury Italian 42 foot beast. Nearly every manufacturer had boats on display but all their sales staff had the same uniform on - white button shirt, cream trousers and boaty shoes - like a clone boat person factory had a summer sale on or something. Not much to buy for a non-boaty person except a fancy-dress kit for a pirate! Contents w

Tong can do no wrong

Image
Not referring to Pete Tong 's DJing talents but rather his name in the film, 'It's all gone Pete Tong' which we rented over the weekend. This is a great dark comedy that will have you laughing at the Ibizian antics then switching the emotions with gasps of drama. Introduced as a biopic with interviews of real and made up club legends, the basic plot sees a super DJ dealing with his deafness. Clubs and drugs feature heavily with the lead character, Frankie Wilde and his coccaine obsession portrayed as a man-sized badger with a magic wand has wicked results. It's only when Frankie is at his lowest ebb do you start to feel something for the character where he starts to come to terms with the disability then meets someone who changes his life. Paul Kaye plays his part perfectly with all the hallmarks of a coke-caner. I was expecting a little of Kevin and Perry go large but thankfully both the humour and music score avoids this. It also avoids the cheesiness of a l

Dragonfly

Dragonfly close-up Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . Gem of a photo I took this week Wednesday. This landed on the front garden path so dashed for the camera and took a photo at every inch I dare get closer. Finally ended up with the camera above it reseting for super-macro mode (camera bore moment!). This is just a section of the most detailed.

Good luck to Neil & Nikki

Image
P9101438 Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . Saturday was my brother-in-law Neil's wedding held at Weston Manor near Bicester , Oxfordshire. The meal was great fun with everyone taking advantage of the toys with noisy balloons and airplanes zooming around annoying the waiters. The bride, Nikki looked stunning, just a shame the rain came down at the time of photos - lucky I was the bride's caddy sheltering her from the weather with a hotel brolly. Neil surprised both Kevin, the best man and myself at the meal, the night before. Kev had forgotten his cufflinks and Neil presented a thank-you gift for his next day duties. Out popped a pair of gold Armani cufflinks - lucky boy! Me, I got a very stylish Ted Baker wallet but like my own wedding he spoiled me with a cheeky piece of official paper inside saying travel cheque stating a high amount of Japanese Yen. The wedding day itself went very well with only the rain forcing the photos to go to Plan B plus the respectful

Hands are great!

Image
Hands are great, aren't they? Let's put our hands together and give them a round of applause. Ow, maybe not! There's more than 10 good things you can do with hands, though some of them are quite painful at the moment. Clapping hands (that's out at the moment), typing (digits are working ok so had to goto work), dipping into pockets for keys and change (bit painful that), playing games (that's out as well). Why I am talking such tripe? Well it all started yesterday.... Helpdesk was a bitch in my ear, karate was ok with lots of sparring, though there are a few characters you need to avoid who use it as an excuse to have a pub brawl. Took a few hits in the ribs but my quick fists got some good shots in, though didn't make him flinch - the dead faced git! Cycled back home after karate and took the paths. Came off a high kerb and bam!, the front wheel stuck, the back flipped over and my hands attempted to sand the concrete. My thumb had bits hanging off i
