Ibiza Day 7: KM5 RC0

Image
Sunny beer Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . The majority of the day we stayed either on the roof terrace or inside as the weather wasn't up to scratch. Watched one of Paul's favourite films called Razor Blade Smile . Not surprising it was a vampire story and with the low budget I was expecting too much. Was pleasantly surprised by its main star who over acted his bit and the story was quite original. Later we returned to KM5, the exclusive bar we'd found last time only to be disappointed that everyone knew about the place. Also, we intended to have a meal there without reserving but that was a mistake. Settled down expecting just the one drink then got offered a table. All was going well with glamorous stiltwalkers and nice deep house tunes until I realised my food hadn't been cooked properly. Sent it back at 1:10am and the waitress said it would take ages to do again. I opted for pasta for quickness and got cappacho instead. Complained again and the chef scared the

Ibiza Day 6: Formentera

Image
Relaxing, Formentera style Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . Managed to get up around 11am (somehow) for our trip to Formentera. Got the 35 minute ferry and watched some rubbish daytime TV programme on board (not allowed on deck) some matador getting divorced from a Spanish singer with endless loops of footage. Kerry didn't appreciate the bumpy waves so the end couldn't come quick enough. Arrived at the tiny port and sourced a moped hire company. No English spoken so all in hand gestures and badly spoken Spanish. As soon as we hit the road, we forgot about how rough we felt and looked forward to our 50cc/50kmph adventure. First stop was a lighthouse with a great view sparkly Med-sea view with dragonflies zooming around in the shade. Next was trying to find the best entry on the 5km beach. Found it after a couple of turns and discovered a few nudes - unfortunately they were retired old blokes sunning their wrinkled todgers. Still nice beach, no hassles, warm water. Couple of

Ibiza Day 5: Simple grub

Image
P8280052 Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . Paul 's Amazon addiction came in useful as we hardly saw daylight. Watched Serenity (again for us) then headed out for some simple grub in San An. Noticed how quiet the Brits Abroad were - unless they were getting hammered in West End.

Ibiza Day 4: Spaced out Sunday

Image
We love Space - Sunday at Space, Ibiza Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . Another long lie-in to recooperate the energy needed for We Love Space. To be honest I wasn't really up for it that day. Dancing in the daytime just feels wrong so spent most of the time wondering around the club. But things got a bit better, as they do ;), though Kerry had a rough patch spending more time in the chill out area. The terrace area was packed with more anthem tunes bashed out. Some of the DJs mind were slightly hopeless at basic mixing supporting my lack of interest for the place. Discovered the Electric Lady Lounge which was completely empty. Later we received a flyer promoting that very room so you could tell they were desparate for punters that night. Smoking Jo was in the main room occompanied by her famous girlfriend, Skin from Skunk Anansie. The music, similar to Tom Stephan, was a minimal techno , driving sound, not like the dull bleepy stuff. It worked well in the club but wouldn't

Ibiza Day 3: Fancy Fantas & Crappy Cats

Image
One of Paul's new toys Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . A very long lie-in meant a late start to the day. Went to the island's Hypermarket (not Vipermarket as Kerry thought it was) to stock up for the week. Annoyingly, they didn't stock any squash. They did however a series of special edition of Fantas including a Japanese watermelon (see FlickR). The evening started off with a look around the Old Town with Paul buying two toys off a rug in a back alley. The first was an evil green eyed toy cat that yapped, the other a hypnotic coloured light fan that sang a Chinese version of happy hardcore . The evening ended at Jade Jagger 's favourite restaurant that night, apparently.

Ibiza Day 2: Italian chavs

Image
Made in Italy at Amnesia Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . First night's sleep was non-existant so opted for the easy option of a drive around the island. Lack of sleep forced us to have a 3 hour siesta before our assult on Amnesia for Made in Italy. Getting the tickets was a slightly dodgy cash in hand at a bar affair then waiting for the dealer to collect them from his flat. The promised 5 minutes turned into 30 minutes but he kept his word. After all the getting ready and high-speed taxi drive we arrived at the club around 2:30am! The line-up was quite good with Tom Stephan and Layo/Bushwacka headlining though our last memory in Pacha had secured the ticket purchase. Gladiator was the theme this year though didn't quite have the glamour as the Pirate night I remember. The crowd were mainly Italian but were of a chav equivalent - harmless but lacked the style and energy I'd associate with Italian clubbers. The main show was a singer in toga outfit supported by gladia

Ibiza Day 1: EasyJet set

Image
View from Paul & Sarah's roof terrace Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . Half day skive just in case M25 rush hour and airport security got too much. No probs and arrived in Ibiza . Hoping to see Paul with a hand-written card waiting but he'd only just got there on time. After struggling with our fuly loaded case up the steepest, oldest steps of Dalt Villa the complaints were soon forgotten after seeing the view from the balcony. Spent the rest of the early hours sipping the bubbly.

Reading: so bad you can smell it

Image
It's Tuesday and I'm still feeling as dried up and rotten as a forgotten house plant left in the sun too long. Big Bro final was an obvious result though Nikki was pathetic - how on earth she'll get through with her own rumoured TV series. Going to Reading for some shopping was just a big, obvious mistake. I just fancied a change from Southampton but all is forgiven. First day of the Royal's premiership appearance and everyone wanted to drive to the stadium which is the biggest road-block ever on a motorway. With all the traffic queues and road-hoggers we hardly had time to really look around. The smell of the place still lingered of leaking drains and sewage. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Reading is such a shit-hole! It was an early start for the evening for a BBQ with Chris and Alex hence my dried-out status. What I thought was going to be an intimate night with the pair turned out to be a larger get-together. Slightly worried at first with the no

Normality is nice

It's been a good week. Finally updated my work's website after weeks of department muppetry, took a karate class on my own which went down well, have put loads of stuff on ebay and feeling great health-wise after last week's rubbish cold-thing. Have uploaded FlickR with all the Brain-training pictures we've done so you can see how talented Kerry and I are at drawing! This has all been put on hold since buying Trauma Center: Under the knife game. It's a surgical game where you do operations using the gameboy stylus as a scalpel. Such a cool game. This weekend will mostly be watching Big Bro tonight, last chance shopping before Ibiza (holiday less than a week away) and going to a BBQ Saturday with some newish friends. I've a feeling we'll be cooking under a brolly and passing out through home-made wine. Chris is a big drinker, being ex-army and I'm small fry when it comes to alcohol. Not looking forward to Sunday. Check out this music video on YouTube .

Eye-pod

Image
Morgan Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . Got on the train next to twenty odd Brummie scouts who smelled like they'd not washed for a week. A quick Convent Garden shop hit followed by meeting Kerry's family at London Eye. Weather was a bit mean so views were a little dull. Morgan, my niece, as cute as she is, kept wanting to play I-spy. All I wanted to do was take photos. The Eye's pod we were in was quite busy really so getting a good vantage point to see the scenery meant taking turns taking photos. Kerry remained on terra-firma and as the big wheel rotated us down we spotted her and decided to keep waving to her annoyance. Walked past all the main sights of Houses of Parliament, No. 10, Trafalger Sq then back to Convent Garden for a meal. Quite an early one for us to get back and bored with telly we drove around the New Forest hoping the clouds would part for the meteor shower display but no luck. As we drove, we followed a panda car flashing an old codger to pull over.

Solent Sci-fi on SixTV

Image
Soooo very tired today. Sleep doesn't seem to interest my mind lately with about 10 minutes of semi-consciousness last night. Kerry came back from her greedy pop-bitch viewing with a broken digital camera. It slipped out of her back pocket into the toilet. Memory card stills works and managed to get some photos and video of the Madger. Check FlickR and YouTube at some point. Whilst recording Pocco Rosso on Film4 through Sky, we had to cope with the terrestial selection. Avoiding the veternary surgery of a new born calf's legs sticking out of a cow's arse, we resorted to the sixth channel. Six TV is a really, really local station. We subjected ourselves to watching their home-made sci-fi drama, The Adventures of Stephen Brown which doesn't exactly conjure visions of aliens or deep space. It seemed that the station manager's whole family were acting, directing, producing or holding the camera in their front room. All actors were squeezed into the room with leather so

In sickness and in health

Poor Kerry. After a weekend of festivals, a crappy cold came over her then esculated into tonsillitis. Friday evening drew the Madonna tickets episode to an end. All week I had been watching other ebay auctions close and expected a loss but I didn't even get my reserve price and had to offer them at at a £150 below cost! Tonight, Kerry will be entertained by the greedy pop-bitch herself in the company of Tony, her old friend/hairdresser. Not much else to report really with nursing duties. Saw Transamerica on DVD which was very good. The Desperate Housewife actress was really convincing as a pre-op. Current read is Samurai William by Giles Milton . Quite a mature subject about the first Westerners to experience Japan and their journey to get there. Personal highlights so far are Portuguese noting the difference on how Japanese pick their noses, encountering savage tribes in South America mutating outsiders by cutting off their 'cod' (balls), slaying 100's of penguins f

Daft Punk: the movie

Apparently, the French robo-sapiens have made a film called Electroma . Here's the trailer link .There's no speech and the plot follows two robots who want to be human. Rumour has it that one of the members has an ear problem and has been advised by doctors to stop doing live performances so what we saw at Global Gathering might never be experienced again.

Brain-drain

Image
For the past week or so I've using the Brain Training game on the gameboy. Based on some Japanese brain and memory expert it can measure your brain's age through random tests. The perfect age is 20 and I've only managed to get it down to 33 (a year younger than I am). After last weekend I slipped down to 36! After 15 years of brain abuse, either through raving or video-games, it's best I do something about it now than become a vegetable with a goldfish memory. Kerry's performing better getting mid-20's score though would dare to say I draw better ;-). There's Sudoko, memory tests, reading, saying the colour of words (e.g. Yellow would be Red), simple sums and more. Favourite part is the drawing from the mind when the game tells you to draw, say a fire-engine or an anchor. Users of FlickR have already used this as an excuse to create a photos Group to compare their artwork! (Though I'd rather avoid it so as not to cheat) Should really be bringing i
