Hole in the road

Hole in the road Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . For the last few weeks we've been waiting, nervously that our drainage pipe would be repaired under the insurance. Thankfully it did but didn't quite expect all this. It all started after calling in the council for a rat problem who then discovered that the rats had been burrowing through and taking residence in our front room bay window cavity wall. The cause of the drain problem wasn't actually super rats using pneumatic drills to break through the pipes - just 'pressure' from above. Quotes started at £3000 but with the sudden appearance of a road digger, fences and a ton of earth its going to be over twice that. God knows what the neighbours are thinking (probably thinking where the f*ck am I going to park) as the works spread across 10 spaces.

Radio Soulwax at Brixton Academy

Friday was all about seeing 2 Many DJs at Brixton Academy . We met up with Gavin and Candid for a catch up drink and found out they were playing from 12:30am. The queue was enormous but didn't take too long to get searched and enter the foyer which was getting the 'second room' treatment from a couple of DJs. Whilst we were about to get searched a right stoner in front was asked by security if he had any drugs. He answered yes(!) and questeioned whether they would still let him in?! Dude! At least try and hide them then lie! Pat and James from LCD Soundsystem were the main support DJs weren't going down very well mainly due to the sound quality. Only by turning up the EQ to maximum did they get any reaction though its mostly to do with being under the balcony. By about midnight it was getting seriously rammed and Kerry, who unfortunately had some minor skin surgery earlier with stomach stitches, was getting knocked about too much. Thankfully, the Belguim heroes came

Modern Toss - Customer Services

Happy Birthday to Paul as we tried out some free all nighter at Al Duomo on Friday night. Can't quite say whether it will catch on having banging tech-house in a restaurant. The soapy Tuacas mostly put us off but mainly the decor and lighting stopped us from really going for it. Saturday was the always welcome visit to Wagamamas with a stop at the legal high shop in Sydney Street then down Paul's basement to try out my new laptop for DJing. Modern Toss Last Sunday we saw Modern Toss - A Night Of Edwardian Chamber Filth at the Old Market, Hove which was part of the Fringe entertainments. The evening cocked up before even seeing it as I got the location completely wrong so had to walk a mile across town thinking we'd miss about 20 minutes. Luckily, the ticket got the time wrong and we were able to get a drink and get a decent seat. It was Fantastic! Basically it was a clip show presented on stage to some classical music from a live string quartet and pianist. Simon Greenall
