Top-pocket toss
Reported back on 2nd August last year, Man to Man with Dean Learner, the TV series finally materialised on Friday night. It was originally called Deano's After Dark Show when we saw the live, rehearsal version without any of the set pieces. I had a cosy memory of it being very funny only to be bored rigid by the end of the TV version. If it wasn't for a couple of moments including the War of the Wasps film clip, we would have switched over. I was slightly worried that my recent purchase of Garth Merenghi's Dark Place DVD would be ruined by sketchy but good memories. It wasn't as funny as I remember but still worth a look. Good to see the special guests such as Stephan Merchant of Extras and Julian Barratt of the Boosh.
TV was the only company we had at the weekend apart from the bungled job of wallpapering the bathroom ceiling. Rented The Warriors on PS2. Its been out awhile now but everything's slowing down with the new generation consoles coming soon so a good time to visit those that slipped the net. The presentation really stood out but the gameplay just slipped making it an above average game. 2 player was a good idea but the split screen made it confusing.
Torchwood, the Doctor Who spin-off was good though. Thank god it got away from that Eastenders, family crapathon. Appreciated all the rude words, sex and aliens plus the first in-show vehicle I seen in a long time that I'm sure Matchbox or Corgi will reproduce. Which reminds me, I didn't see an underground garage to store the vehicle. Did it have a tax disk or did the DVLA know about it? Also, what was all that standing on tall buildings trying to make Cardiff look like Gotham City about? I'm sure the lead character had more important jobs than steeple-jacking up tall buildings just to pose in case any UFOs came a bit close.
Only just caught up with the Extras finale last night as well. Surely the agent and Barry have to be the best characters after that nudey pen scene!
