Bank holiday Glow-ed


Glow was an amazing multi-media and modern dance performance as part of the Brighton Festival. Held in Fabrica we were seated looking down at a white gymnastic white floor. The sound effects and eerie music kicked off and a dancer crawled out as if trapped in a padded cell. The projected light effects interacted with her as she squirmed, stretched and writhed around. Some of the lights were pulsing, other created a phased or shadowed pattern around her. The shadows were particular effective at simulating what could be described as demons possessing the dancer and actually scared the crap out of a small girl who's mum quickly took her away. Hopefully the YouTube video will give you a better idea.

Saturday was more DIY with the evening watching the Euro-politics - what the f*ck is up with that! No wonder Terry Wogan is quitting.

Sunday was a packed day of hosting mates and family to a lamb roast, killing and burying rats in the garden (found a large one amongst the flowers and another got dropped half-dead on Kev's leg from the sky - Kev had nothing to do with it's death but four blows to the head with a brick did), watching fireworks from a friend of Sue's sailing boat at the marina then back to ours for more booze.

The Mighty Boosh new live show review

Thanks to my Modwolves fan club connections I managed to win exclusive tickets to see the brand new live show from the Mighty Boosh on Saturday. After our (unsuccessful) Thames boat ride we made our way over to 3 Mills TV studios in Bromley on Bow. If you don't want to know what's in the new live show then you'd best not read this as it will spoil the surprise. However if you want to know a summary of how it went then I'll say now, the performance was slightly worrying with only a week to go. There's a lot more mini-sketches and no real story compared to the previous tour. There's some great gags, some surprises but if it wasn't for their natural talent and personality the show would be slightly disappointing. Hopefully they'll put in some practice, improve the sketches that didn't quite work and maybe even come up with some new ideas. Happy Boosh day

Some call me... Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . What a night! Arrived early to get some merchandise to find only one person serving. Between Kerry and I, we racked up an impressive £46 on 2 mugs (no jokes please), 2 t-shirts and a programme. Later at both the half-time break and at the end, the merchandise stall was so busy with at least 3 people deep buying stuff as if there was a famine of comedy sized proportions going on. No support came during that time for the poor single stall holder. As I've been bragging, we really did have the best seats in the house and a few times had eye contact with the Boosh getting some quality photos. Next to us were the most dedicated fans I've ever seen making Rocky Horror show look like a fancy dress cop-out. The detail of their costumes was impressive. Lego Luke & Leia

Nothing too exciting this week hence the lack of blogging entry. Highlights of the weekend were shopping and repairing the garden fence whilst avoiding the spider invasion. I've never been in a house to have so many different types of spiders. The downstairs bathroom is rife with skinny blob-with-legs spiders that live off lint whereas Kerry gets terrorised by the monster tree spiders with the muscle to crawl up the plug hole. Another slightly annoying thing is our Polish neighbours who are getting a bit noisy lately playing naff folky music before we want to get up. Although there's the regular couple, they seem to have a different friend or two staying every other week with bathroom noises through our paper-thin bedroom wall.
