Bangers, bangers and muppets

We can see its you Kev

Been a little uninspired lately to do anything with the blog. Last weekend was Guy Fawlkes night which was hosted again by Trev and Vivs. Having the most backyard of any of our friends it was fortunate for everyone to offer again. We followed their invite request to the letter and bought some fireworks. Took over an hour to find some decent ones in Southampton but ended up just yards away from our house at the local shop. Their large inflatable rocket on their roof and huge banner across their window saying FIREWORK HQ gave it away. We checked out the shop's video of all the fireworks for sale so we knew what to buy. Shopkeeper instantly gave us discount so we bought over £100's worth for £65 which consisted of a 61 shot cake weighing a tonne, 2 rockets which needed air traffic control clearance, a tank sized shell that could pleasure the loosest of cannons and some sparklers.

Only Trev and George contributed to the sparkly, banging stuff that night. Trev's selection had some great product names like Largin' it! Anyone wishing to remind me what the rest of them were please do! Trying to take photos of them though was frankly rubbish with my camera. Too many options and not enough time to capture them.

Onto the party and Trev's freeloading workmates turned to the free wine a little too quickly. By midnight one was dancing and shouting like a loon, the other simply making wooing noises. The first guy decided to go back to the house then collapsed onto the patio bench to pass out. Trev rescued him and fed him Doritos from a bowl like he was a blind-mute.

By this time Kev had been missing for awhile (not that any of us missed him) but re-appeared to scare the girls with his Scream outfit (pictured). Paul had already DJed and left the satisfied crowd with his cheesy anthem ‘Santa Maria’ – Paul, we had prepared a bonfire for that record especially for that hopeful last play.

Kev manned the decks playing a couple of his KSX tracks which featured some good break-beat sounds. I was the third DJ though wasn’t the best time as my laptop started to play up with the Final Scratch pi$$ing me off. With annoyance factor at warp 6, Mr. Woo pushed my patience limits trying to sit on my records. No idea who he was and nor did our hosts. Wine had obviously got the better of his standing upright capabilities and another stagger later into a playing record resulted in me grabbing, dragging and evicting him out of the party. Enough was enough much to everyone’s amusement. We left the party with Kev doing an Underworld Jive-bunny style mega mix.

Work has been slow and lunchtimes dragging for a change as I don’t have to think about Japan planning. Saw Lost in Translation and an old holiday programme about Japan for a little reminiscing. Just hearing the lift chimes set me off into daydreaming of the holiday again. To fill the lunchtime gaps I have fallen into an evil addiction which will age me into reading the Daily Mail and ordering from their Reader’s Offers! Sudoku has gripped me after finally working out how to do it. What’s calmed my ageing paranoia slightly is seeing a trailer for a TV quiz show with Colin Murray and Simon Munnery (though looks like he's off the acid as he wasn’t wearing a dress and bucket on his head). Alas, those heady Glastonbury days are definitely behind him and looks like he’s took the first step on the comedy mediocre foot step (not many rungs and bound to end on a low budget digital channel somewhere around betting and the god channels).

Another little quirk that has cheered me up is learning two facts about Ralph Fiennes. Apart from mis-spelling his name – should be Rayth (do people call him Ray for short?), his middle names are Nathanial Twisleton-Wykeman. He has won back some of my jealous induced lack of respect by admitting he’s a keen gamer. Oi, Ray-ffff, fancy playing the lead role in the next Scorsese film about an Italian plumber having a few ape problems?

How on earth did you dream up the thing about the spelling of Ralph Fiennes' name?? It's Ralph. Pronounced [Rafe]. Pretty simple. And yeah, he *is* the eternal supreme gorgeousness...

Reveal yourself mysterious woman (or man?!)! Yes I know his name is spelt 'R-A-L-P-H' - I just wonder if his parents had lisps?
