Chavs, Chow and Chibi

Friday night we celebrated our 5th year of marriage. We'd booked the P.O.S.H. restaurant in Southampton based on their delicious sounding menu with Indian and unusual slant on modern cuisine. When we arrived we ignored the fact it was opposite New York New York's nightclub and it was above a Rent-a-Car office. We walked up the stairs and through their Titanic themed lounge then were greeted by one of the staff. Whilst surveying the dining area with grand piano in the corner and a couple of customers sat in the midst of about 80 tables, a bombshell was dropped. Although Kerry had given them our telephone number and the fact it was our anniversary, P.O.S.H. had not secured their drinks licence so we couldn't order or be served any alcohol. Storming out was the only option even after the staff suggesting we bring our own from a garage around the corner. We ended up in Southampton's most expensive restaurant, Dock Gate 4, mixing it with the casino regulars, trophy wives and Jeremy Clarkson wanna-be's. Another grand piano, this time with singer, 'entertained' us with covers such as Scissor Sisters and Robbie, whilst the high ceiling and large Victorian windows mixed it up with views of car transporters delivering new minis to the docks.
Decorating and saving money was the rest of the weekend playing Chibi-Robo on the Gamecube. Not released in the UK until Easter I bagged this US game bargain off Ebay. Very cute Nintendo style game with a Toy-story background and a pen-sized Japanese cartoon robot helping out a family tidy up whilst meeting speaking toys around the house. Favourite character must be the superhero/ultra-man wanna-be, Drake Redcrest always striking a pose and working for justice. Love the way Chibi-Robot dashes about with his power plug held above his head. Spare a thought for poor Kerry who ended the weekend with a nasty stomach bug and high temperature.
