Solent Sci-fi on SixTV

Soooo very tired today. Sleep doesn't seem to interest my mind lately with about 10 minutes of semi-consciousness last night.

Kerry came back from her greedy pop-bitch viewing with a broken digital camera. It slipped out of her back pocket into the toilet. Memory card stills works and managed to get some photos and video of the Madger. Check FlickR and YouTube at some point.

Whilst recording Pocco Rosso on Film4 through Sky, we had to cope with the terrestial selection. Avoiding the veternary surgery of a new born calf's legs sticking out of a cow's arse, we resorted to the sixth channel. Six TV is a really, really local station. We subjected ourselves to watching their home-made sci-fi drama, The Adventures of Stephen Brown which doesn't exactly conjure visions of aliens or deep space. It seemed that the station manager's whole family were acting, directing, producing or holding the camera in their front room. All actors were squeezed into the room with leather sofa, spiral staircase and sideboard whilst taking turn to say their lines. No attempt at costume, just whatever they were wearing after work or school and scenery was either their garden or a printed piece of paper printed with the words 'mystic shrine' or something, probably the door to the bedroom. Looking at the Six TV website displays their programme schedule by a choice of an Excel spreadsheet or a JPEG of the spreadsheet - quality!

I think you came across one of our more, umm, diffently abled episodes.

Do have another look...we don't always shoot in just the front room...we have a studio too!

Hi Rob

I think you probably stumbled into our weakest story. 6TV only showed the second part, which didn't help.

Beacon is made up of a combination of media professionals and amateurs; the idea being to give people the chance to act, or learn how to use the equipment.

It's programmes have little or no budget, but we try and make the most of what we have. The fact that Beacon's shows are shown on 6TV is a by-product, really. We'd still be making them if it wasn't on TV.

Have a look at Kaos Theory (youtube) and the myspace profile, and see what you think of that. If you like what you see you're more than welcome to come down and see us. If you think it's a load of shit, then that's fine too. Tell us what we're doing wrong.

Cheers! Dob.
