Sympathy for Mr Sickboy

What I thought was hayfever all day Friday was in fact a crappy, stinking cold which ruined my plans for the weekend. Boredom switched on Resident Evil 4 which served well almost all weekend. In the evening we tried to rent Lady Vengence but came away with the first of the three Korean revenge films, Sympathy for Mr. Vengence. We'd bought Old Boy and were well impressed by its style and multi-twisting plot so expected more the same here. Chan-Wook Park directed it with his usual excellent style and originality but it wasn't the sort of thing you needed if you'd recently needed a kidney transplant, had your daughter kidnapped or just coming off the happiness prescription. As I said there's some great moments of shock, originality and vengence ideas with a last minute twist for the Korean's trademark.

World Cup fever is warming up on the media front and shops selling those crappy car flags. Saw this through the Mighty Boosh mailing list I'm on (I think it's the guy who plays Bollo). Not really that bothered about it especially being a European hosting. The Japan was cool as the media supported it with culture stuff about the host countries. Germany isn't different enough to get excited about. What really gets my goat is the media's obsession with the constant reminding of 1966. For f*cksake give it a rest - IT WAS 40 YEARS AGO!!! It's almost as bad as harping on about winning the last two world wars.

Don't know if you've noticed but I've added a video of our NY experience thanks to a new Flickr type site called YouTube.com - Check it!
