It was Orange Wednesday last night and Silent Hillwatched. It was a long time since we played the game so remembering any of the plot was going to be tricky. Quite surprised to see Sean Bean as the husband trying to do a Yankee accent but it came out all 'ee by gum'. With the scene set for the reason to visit Silent Hill, the good stuff came along with the town looking satisfactorily familiar to the game and monsters looking creepy. Bit toned down though with the 15 certificate but the big pyramid-head guy and demon nurses twitching like the dancers from Kylie 'Can't get you out of my head' looked good. Towards the end though I started thinking where this was all going and most of the plot tension had disappeared making the conclusion a bit flat. I remember completing the game then getting the wrong ending and couldn't be arsed trying again. Bit like the film really, I enjoyed the creepy bits and style but like unwrapping a large present it turned out to be socks.
What a difference a decent weekend makes. I’m now taking advantage of this new optimism and energy and have almost rewritten my job description for the next year with new ideas. So what happened? I wasn’t expecting too much from Wireless as after seeing a couple of dull sets from Underworld, last year’s crushing crowd but excellent Daft Punk performance and a doubtful weather forecast for rain. Instead, Steve and Sam came along as first time Wireless playmates getting in for about 3:30pm. The beer tents looked heaving but were one of the best ideas yet with a snake-like queue and security pointing out the next available server just like post offices. With starting drinks sorted we sat down to overhear Har Mar Superstar with Neon Neon on the main stage. Japanese Popstars Out of all the relatively new support...
With news that Facebook is offering embedded posts I thought I'd experiment with both Facebook and Twitter. Here's an example of a Twitter embedded post: This is amazing. After a friend recommended last year's release I'd never heard about - The Cartel by Amorphous Androgynous - I went to search for it on YouTube and also came across this legendary Radio One mix from their original alter-ego Future Sound of London. Having only this on cassette tape I can now share this.
