Tron Legacy 3D - 23 minute preview review

Image
Not exactly the most busiest of cinema attendances I've ever been too but the first to have two bouncers searching for us before we went in. The two security guys were almost identical twins which was a slight Matrix moment for us. They were strict too, taking away any cameras and demanding mobilephones to be switched off. With a few minutes to go before the film, (I'm guessing) the manager appeared announcing that he would be viewing the film with us as well as the twin security guards to make sure no filming would take place and that we could provide feedback after the showing. He also mentioned that we would see a number of different scenes from the first half of the film. 3D glasses went on, a quick advert for the video game which looked ok then the familiar BBFC certificate. The first scene introduced Flynn's grown-up son, Sam arriving back on his motorbike to his warehouse-like house between two massive bridges. His cute little dog welcomes him and is given a wrap...

Another Tron Legacy Trailer featuring Daft Punk

Image
Great new trailer for the forthcoming Tron Legacy film. This time we get to see the robot gods, Daft Punk do some 'acting'. They appear to be behind a sort of DJ booth like some sort of power/game operatives. Liking the soundtrack played and can imagine that 'Derezzed' will go down well live. Also, I quite like Michael Sheen (aka Tony Blair / Brian Clough / David Frost ) doing some sort of David Bowie / Ziggy Stardust blonde baddy. Roll on tomorrow evening for the 23 minute preview. Tron Legacy and Daft Punk poster and film news

Image
Earlier this week, Disney offered its Tron Legacy Facebook fans a chance to see 23 minutes of the forthcoming film at a number of chosen cinemas. You have to register with the Disney website for marketing purposes but true fans will know its worth it. Thankfully, Brighton Cineworld was one of dozen or so venues and we'll be seeing this next Thursday (28th October). Watch this space for a review. ElecTRONica opening night photos The Facebook fan page also has the photos from the opening of their Disneyland resort area, ElecTRONica which look really cool. The podium dancers and green lasers look great. Wonder if they sell the new Tron suits? IMAX 3D cinema showing I read that the US IMAX cinemas are starting to sell out of the early showings. In a small panic, I've emailed the London IMAX to see when they'll be releasing tickets themselves. Will update you by Twitter/Facebook. Daft Punk played live last night! Found this lovely poster too of the robot gods, Daf...

New Tron Legacy film trailer (3)

There's some more Daft Punk sound clips going around which you can listen at 107.7 The End blog . These a very much soundtrack scores which will be disappointing to those expecting banging club tunes. The trailer below introduces the story better and a lot more Tron world. Enjoy!

Daft Punk unmasked

Just found this YouTube video interview of Daft Punk, unmasked and looking very, very young.

Daft Punk's Daft World

Image
With Daft Punk making a very brief, blink-and-you'll-miss-them appearance in the latest Adidas Star Wars viral video promotion and Tron Legacy popping up here and there to stoke the fires of anticipation I've since come across what seems to be the  best fan based Daft Punk blog . They've posted an official looking image to say Daft Punk confirming the tune called Fragile is a fake Tron soundtrack but further reading has revealed some tasty artwork combining them and Star Wars. The one below is my favourite: There's dozens of Tron artwork as well so I'll be keeping a close eye on this French site. Using Google's Translate service you can view the English text version of Daft Punk's Daft World .

DJ Hero

Image
It wasn't really an eventful weekend to start our week off. Most of the time we worked on Sam's 40th birthday party decorations to the theme of Trade. Otherwise it was a visit to Croydon for a few hundred lighter off. We finally gave in and bought it. After a visit to a friends and a journey of furniture tedium, we spent our Nectar points on DJ Hero . The deal struck between us was to decorate through the day then DJ at night. The mock DJ deck and mixer is a great bit of kit with a nifty cross-fader and Technics like platter. When you are scratching you have to hold the wheel of steel with the coloured button and thumb to get the best action. When you have to do rewind/spin-backs its also better to hold down the coloured button again to wind it round one revolution otherwise it will just spin out of control. The tutorial is very easy to follow and master whilst the beginner and easy levels are also simple and fun to play. It's when you get to the medium level that the ...

Daft Punk 2010 Tour Dates?

Image
According to Data Transmission and Last.fm, Daft Punk will be touring Europe next year (2010). This hasn't been confirmed properly but worth looking out for ticket news. Instead of cramming everyone in a tent or small field they're playing in stadiums including Wembley Arena , London. There's nothing on the Arena or Le Zénith website yet but the search continues. Jul 30 Le Zénith, Paris, France Aug 1 Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam, Netherlands Aug 3 Allianz-Arena, Munich, Germany Aug 5 The O2, Dublin, Ireland Aug 7 Parc des sports, Nice, France Aug 15 Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York NY, United States Aug 22 Sydney Football, Sydney, Australia Aug 28 Olympic Park Stadium, Melbourne, Australia Sep 3 Wembley Arena , London, United Kingdom Sep 6 City Of Manchester, Manchester, United Kingdom

DJ Hero tracklist and Tron 2 star guests

Image
Game & Movie news Couple of pieces of news to make the future seem that more brighter in a week of rainy gloom. The soon-to-released mixing game, DJ Hero from Activision has released its full listing of song mash-ups. Data Transmission has the full details but highlights are DJ Shadow , Beastie Boys, David Bowie (Let's Dance), Justice (Genesis), Gorrilaz, Killers and Tears for Fears plus, of course, Daft Punk as mentioned in a previous blog entry. Speaking of the Paris Punk Princes (c), as well as scoring the new Tron Legacy film, they'll also be appearing in it - hopefully as their full robot selves. Worst Previews website has the details.

New Daft Punk tune and Light-cycle reveal!!!!

Image
Today I found the new Daft Punk tune for the not yet released film, Tron 2 or Tron Legacy. First impressions are that it's not a dance record but gets very hypnotic, building into complete crowd chaos if played live. The blog I found it is Chic Moustache Club but since returning to it the embedded clip has changed into the film's trailer. The audio clip can be found on The Hype Machine website . The video clip below is an interesting reveal of the new film's lightcycle design. As the press and fans enter the special room you get to see the draft drawings in the corridor then the main room shows a full sized lightcycle. Make sure you listen to the video camera owner getting very excited when he see the real bike. Another strange web discovery is this video of Thomas Bangalter making a surprise guest slot DJing three records with Busy P in LA - just him without the Daft Punk helmet. The video is jumpy but clear quality and the sound chaotic with the crowd wetting themselve...

Daft Punk: the movie

Image
Apparently, the French robo-sapiens have made a film called Electroma . Here's the trailer link .There's no speech and the plot follows two robots who want to be human. Rumour has it that one of the members has an ear problem and has been advised by doctors to stop doing live performances so what we saw at Global Gathering might never be experienced again.

Robot gods

Harder Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . Just a small entry for Thursday. Went to my normal karate class with my sensei announcing it would be all kumite (sparring). Usually I pick up minimum injuries such as bruises but this time resulted in one bloody nose from the sensei himself and one very winded stomach from a higher grade - its supposed to be non-contact. Getting up to the Global Gathering site took forever thanks to the traffic north of Oxford and the M40. Luckily Kerry found a back road and we were soon parking at around 5:30pm. Walking towards the entrance was slightly dodgy seeing a younger bloke on the ground being kicked and punched by two larger guys. Even worse when he somehow got up to leg it then chased and shouting for help. Everyone stood amazed as the two other guys laid in more hard punches shouting out to not do it again then he ran off again. Very scary. Queuing up was no way as bad as last year thank god and the searches were very relaxed until we spot...

Daft decision?

Image
After a chat with Kerry last night, enough was enough. There was too much pressure and had to end it there and then. Commitment had been tested for so long, we gave in and paid for the weekend tickets for Global Gathering to ensure we see Daft Punk . With GG actually responding to an old email of ours requesting Friday only tickets plus their latest newsletter declaring 'only a few weekend tickets' left meant their game of chicken made us the losers. Looking do the side of the sofa is being serious considered as money becomes extremely scarce. I blame it all on that greedy bitch, Madonna and her ticket prices. Ebay sales are a non-mover as it seems that no-one wants to commit to a sale without a physical ticket. This so fits my surname profile being a 'Burdened Optimist' . If you're interested in finding out about your surname try going to the Surname Profiler website. Enter your surname and you'll find out where in the country your family name was popular ...

My mid-week mood check

Image
My mid-week mood check is bland and skint. There's a few things on the wallet-thinning radar coming up. Shame my payday isn't sooner or bigger. If there's anyone who fancies a themed London trip here's the perfect setup:- Below Zero bar is your Absolut vodka bar made out of ice! For a couple of months there's the Icespace experience . You can buy tickets here . Though just found out its £21 entry fee. Other than that we're still holding off buying tickets for Global Gathering since they've announced Daft Punk to be doing the Friday. As well as Weekend camping tickets, GG are only selling Saturday day tickets. I'm sure they're doing this on purpose to sell more tickets but after last year's queuing marathon. Whilst getting excitement at seeing Daft Punk live and considering a costume to celebrate their UK return, I came across this link of someone beating me to it - When Geeks do Halloween . I also found out that after their 5555 Interste...

Tramp tale

Image
Today I was kicked by a tramp Originally uploaded by robmanuel . More decorating over the weekend with a couple of rentals to amuse us. Buzz, the general knowledge version was ok. Also rented Steamboy , an anime directed by Katsuhiro Otomo , the same guy who did Akira . Started off great with a clever and detailed spin on Victorian life in England bolting on a manga story. England was the Japan of 19th century with steam engines the cutting edge of technology and a family of inventors creating the next new power source. Enter mysterious agents who want to steal the new engine, Robert Stevenson acting on behalf of the government and some spoilt brat girl for love interest. Sadly the characters' relationships didn't justify the story's direction and drama turning the film into a multi-action set-piece. Captain Picard keeps popping up on these voice-overs getting tarred with the X-men, sci-fi brush though a little thought went into the rest of the voices using Northern accen...
