Does anyone remember the Cartoon Network animation ' Two Stupid Dogs '? Last week I was reminded of them from the almost just as stupid act of mislaying my phone. Presenting 'Where's the bone?' and another episode from 2 Stupid Dogs, 'Sheep Dogs'. Love the part where one of the dogs gets quite frustrated with a sheep whilst teaching it to bark. I'm a bit late finding this out but my Twitter spies led me to find this very old pilot for The Blackadder . I'm a huge fan of the first series where Rowan Atkinson 's character was completely different to the Ben Elton influenced creation. Controversial for some I know but it just worked better for me. Its this more confident character that gets a practice within this pilot episode. It's based on the second episode of the first series, ' Born to be King ' where Edmund plots revenge on the Scottish Supreme Commander, McAngus. I've added both videos below so you can compare the two versions where they use alomost the same jokes and script around Edmund having to book the entertainment for the coming feast (i.e. Morris dancers, Eunurchs etc.). Its amazing that only Edmund, the Queen and Lord Percy were the only characters to be played by the same actors. Wow. Its been a while since I've seen anything this original, bizarre and funny at the same time. Characters you'd expect Noel Fielding to create, dialogue and lines from hilarious dope-smoking slackers and a cartoon style like Amos or Pete Fowler (Monsterism) . Cartoon Network has only just broadcast this series in the US but thank god for YouTube. Sit back and enjoy.

No idea when Adult Swim in the UK will ever broadcast the fourth series of Venture Brothers . This Saturday, FX UK will show episode 9 of 12 within Season 1 and their Facebook Fan page is ignoring my questions. We can only hope they will get to it next year. By that time I would have bought the DVD off Amazon.com (planned in March 2011) and watched it all. I was getting used to this TV production lark so it was slightly depressing to know it would be the last day. Pub du Vin was our last shoot location and they'd picked a great function room with a multi-tiered, drinking glass chandelier. Martin had already done his intro bit so we had to flick through our photos from our assignment and comment on them whilst being filmed. Despite using the Panasonic camera provided (which I bitched about on Monday) the photos ranged from ok to brilliant. The director had already picked his favourite dozen which I couldn't argue with. A few 'noddy' shots again from behind and the side before we met Martin again. Slideshow The second scene was to show Martin our selected photos in front of a huge Panasonic plasma TV (can you guess who sponsored this programme). Sleep eluded me from a combination of worry and the stuffy, warm conditions. 8am was supposed to be the start time. Met the crew at Jury's Inn hotel and the day did not bode well as Toby, the director admitted he woke up feeling for the first time in the 4 week shoot he felt genuinely unmotivated for the day. Great, no pressure then. Kensington Gardens   I had originally in mind to take photos around St. James Street, Kemptown with the chance to see some colourful gay characters but wanted to capture a particular Brighton character. I had a hunch I'd see him and it paid off. Thank god 'Spyke' appeared as my first subject around 9:30am. I thought he'd only brought his pug dog but thankfully his white rat was inside his zip-up top. It was a rare day for him not to cycle with his rabbit in the basket. Monday morning was the start of the 3 day filming in Brighton for 'How to take stunning pictures'. The meeting point was a cafe called I Gigi on Western Road where Susie, myself and Martin Parr would be filmed. It was a typical yummy-mummy Hove cafe and shop for kitchen and interior design. My first impressions of Martin Parr were that he could have doubled as a strict headmaster having a very distinctive and assertive voice. The director/cameraman, Toby (or Tony as Martin called him for the rest of the day) set up the scene that we'd met Martin to show our favourite travel photo and one that we were disappointed with. Blink Films, the producer of 'How to take stunning pictures' was located slap bang in the middle of Shoreditch with plenty of Nathan Barley types looking very cool (naturally I felt at home). Got to meet the other photographer, Suzanne who will join me and Martin Parr in Brighton on Monday. Suzanne has a great blog called some things we did and seems to be better at photography than me. Also met another photographer who had done his stint with his assigned expert having been down in Eastbourne. Found out later he does Parkour. One slightly annoying change was that we wouldn't be able to use our own cameras. Instead we'd be loaned some Panasonic Lumix shooters. Product placement perhaps? If you'd been following my Twitter or Facebook status updates then you'd know about the amazing opportunity I've been given. Thanks to Twitter I found out about a potential Channel 5 TV programme on photography and its researcher was looking for people who love travel and photography and are Brighton-based. With an application and interview later, I received the good news last Friday. The basic concept is that I'll spend a day in the company of a famous professional photographer around Brighton learning tips and tricks along the way. Then I get two days on my own to snap my best shots with my much improved technique. According to the TV researcher, the programme is a series of six each dealing with two amateurs in different types of photography. Travel being my show (with another amateur) where others are action, portrait, nature, wedding and maybe another. So, who will be my mentor? My holiday break started with a bump on the Wednesday before Christmas. The combined icy conditions and previous evening's rain turned the roads into highly polished glass. Without checking the university website, I stupidly cycled into work coming off worse from a) cracking my arse after slipping off my bike and b) wasting my time after discovering the university had closed due to the conditions. The catch-up drink at the Eagle pub on Gloucester Road cheered me up with my Elf t-shirt going down well. Christmas Eve was a restrained one with the core (K n K and P n S) though never got to play our new Buzz game on the PS3. Another missed opportunity was watching the Christmas Day swimmers down at the pier. After unwrapping the presents we ran out of time and scrambled into action for a last minute tidy up for my dad's arrival at 1pm. After an enjoyable weekend away in Janner land ("Green Army") to see Donna and favourite niece Morgan, our telly addiction continued thanks to a new series of House . No sooner had the last series finished the other week, all of a sudden Sky pulled out another series which starts with the grumpy medic doing mental time. Another drama-drug we're doing is Flash-Forward on Channel 5 . I had tried to avoid it but thanks to other users/abusers recommendations we're already hooked. The characters are a little one-dimensional at the moment which I'm hoping its down to the early episodes and the mood music just dumbs down the atmosphere for the audio warning signs e.g. tinkly piano moment for emotional pull, dramatic orchestra bit for tense action, sinister sounds for the baddies - are we keeping up American viewers (or do US TV execs think they need it)? Still, the concept is really clever but simple, the writers have an easy job of taking the story forward in any angl...

Must be time for a break from the pub quiz as we came second last Thursday. Luckily we had an opportunity to earn some money instead of trying to win it but more on that later. The weekend was a new cosy one with Kerry for a change. Our Saturday night was an unplanned meal out but quickly learnt that not booking ahead meant many restaurants were fully booked at 8pm. After the third place we tried we headed into Seven Dials (Brighton) with the intention of visiting The Tin Drum . We checked the other restaurants within the area but settled for our original choice. Although the décor was a little scruffy with a relaxed cafe/pub style, the food was really tasty. The organic, locally sourced range of food was delicious. We had some small problems with the service but after some polite nagging we were given the desserts for free as well as a round of drinks. This is going to be a schizophrenic blog entry as there hasn't been any major events going on at the moment. Last week started with another win of the Pond pub quiz but a shallow victory with only three teams entering then one too drunk to care. Friday's TV experiment by Derren Brown was a mixed result though I don't think I was really concentrating. I was more insterested in the Twitterfall of people talking about him. I nearly got caught with a nasty PC virus thanks to some evil Tweet and short URL. Lesson learnt: never click on a short URL unless you know its reliable. Saturday night was at a very local pub on Lewes Road, Brighton called the Gladstone. Go-Bang and a few other local DJs put on an all-dayer. It was a refreshing change not to need a taxi but the drink prices were still steep. Good to meet a few new people and the neo-disco sounds were quite cool. Alot of remixed old classics catching my attention. We stayed until the end dodging the Gladstone regulars....

I don't often check Jackson Publick's blog (creator of the Venture Brothers ) that often as he doesn't write that regularly but today I noticed an exciting entry of Season 4 preview. There's a great quote of "I love Hitler and Hitler loves me!" with some Nazis featured in an episode. With a key character leaving in the last episode of Season 3 (won't ruin it for those haven't seen it) there are some clues as to who will replace that person.

Summer usually means dull TV but our 40 incher has been good for us lately. Flight of the Conchords has recovered from a dodgy start but episode favourites so far are The Tough Brets (Westside Story with Jim from Neighbours appearing), Unnatural Love (Jermaine dates an Australian) and Prime Minister (NZ PM gets weird with The Matrix film references). Last nights' 80's song with added hair gel was possibly their best song yet. US imports of House and Lie To Me have been impressive on Sky HD. But a couple of new comedies have really got my laughter juices running are Psychoville and The Chaser's War on Everything . Psychoville's first episode was just a twisted enigma waiting to be opened up like Pandoras Box. Waiting to see Flight of the Conchords, I came across BBC4's showing of The Chaser's War on Everything . Happy Birthday to Paul as we tried out some free all nighter at Al Duomo on Friday night. Can't quite say whether it will catch on having banging tech-house in a restaurant. The soapy Tuacas mostly put us off but mainly the decor and lighting stopped us from really going for it. Saturday was the always welcome visit to Wagamamas with a stop at the legal high shop in Sydney Street then down Paul's basement to try out my new laptop for DJing. Modern Toss Last Sunday we saw Modern Toss - A Night Of Edwardian Chamber Filth at the Old Market, Hove which was part of the Fringe entertainments. The evening cocked up before even seeing it as I got the location completely wrong so had to walk a mile across town thinking we'd miss about 20 minutes. Luckily, the ticket got the time wrong and we were able to get a drink and get a decent seat. It was Fantastic!
