Sunday was a packed day of London sightseeing with almost a minute by minute travel schedule. Rolled up to Holborn at around 12pm to see the Mr Brainwash exhibition expecting the door to open at 11am only to find a sign saying opening at 1pm. Bah! Instead I had a back-up plan to watch the Men's Marathon down on bankside. With it being such a nice warm day, Londoners were packing in to see the long-distance runners. Managed to see the race just opposite the drinks pick up point. Funny to see all the pro-photographers in the lorry in front. So last night was the end of waiting for my 15 minutes of fame. I'd been boring friends about my appearance on the final episode of 'How to take stunning pictures' on Channel Five since July. With all the nerves and a slight sick feeling of dread in my stomach, I think I came off okay even if it was weird to see myself. The first bit with Suzi Perry came off well but the shot ended with myself looking a bit narky and possibly a little like Karl Pilkington . That was because Suzi made the blunder of wearing the wrong outfit and us having to film again for the sake of continuity (I might have mentally said for f*sake). The cafe scene had been cut in half as we both had to show a photo we were happy with and one (shown) we were not. The bit cut out was Martin dissing my better photo or rather me challenging him on the content. Couldn't have that banter on TV I can tell you as I almost had Martin 'climb down' from his comment. Apologies first. I've been so busy with work having to launch my employer's new website. I was getting used to this TV production lark so it was slightly depressing to know it would be the last day. Pub du Vin was our last shoot location and they'd picked a great function room with a multi-tiered, drinking glass chandelier. Martin had already done his intro bit so we had to flick through our photos from our assignment and comment on them whilst being filmed. Despite using the Panasonic camera provided (which I bitched about on Monday) the photos ranged from ok to brilliant. The director had already picked his favourite dozen which I couldn't argue with. A few 'noddy' shots again from behind and the side before we met Martin again. Slideshow The second scene was to show Martin our selected photos in front of a huge Panasonic plasma TV (can you guess who sponsored this programme). Behind the telly was a guy pressing the laptop key to go show the next photo. The feedback was fair with a few constructive improvements suggested but a few more compliments ...

After an enjoyable weekend away in Janner land ("Green Army") to see Donna and favourite niece Morgan, our telly addiction continued thanks to a new series of House . No sooner had the last series finished the other week, all of a sudden Sky pulled out another series which starts with the grumpy medic doing mental time. Another drama-drug we're doing is Flash-Forward on Channel 5 . I had tried to avoid it but thanks to other users/abusers recommendations we're already hooked. The characters are a little one-dimensional at the moment which I'm hoping its down to the early episodes and the mood music just dumbs down the atmosphere for the audio warning signs e.g. tinkly piano moment for emotional pull, dramatic orchestra bit for tense action, sinister sounds for the baddies - are we keeping up American viewers (or do US TV execs think they need it)? Still, the concept is really clever but simple, the writers have an easy job of taking the story forward in any angl...

This is going to be a schizophrenic blog entry as there hasn't been any major events going on at the moment. Last week started with another win of the Pond pub quiz but a shallow victory with only three teams entering then one too drunk to care. Friday's TV experiment by Derren Brown was a mixed result though I don't think I was really concentrating. I was more insterested in the Twitterfall of people talking about him. I nearly got caught with a nasty PC virus thanks to some evil Tweet and short URL. Lesson learnt: never click on a short URL unless you know its reliable. Saturday night was at a very local pub on Lewes Road, Brighton called the Gladstone. Go-Bang and a few other local DJs put on an all-dayer. It was a refreshing change not to need a taxi but the drink prices were still steep. Good to meet a few new people and the neo-disco sounds were quite cool. Alot of remixed old classics catching my attention. We stayed until the end dodging the Gladstone regulars....
