Venture Bros Season 5 preview

Image
This YouTube video of Season 5 of Venture Bros looks amazing. Its described as a sneak peek but offers more than just a quick clip show that makes you consider taking a long holiday to the USA just to see it. I bet the 19th May 2013 can't come quick enough for our cousins over the pond - lucky gits. Here's the slideshow of images from the Venture Bros blog . Two Stupid Dogs

Image
Does anyone remember the Cartoon Network animation ' Two Stupid Dogs '? Last week I was reminded of them from the almost just as stupid act of mislaying my phone. Presenting 'Where's the bone?' and another episode from 2 Stupid Dogs, 'Sheep Dogs'. Love the part where one of the dogs gets quite frustrated with a sheep whilst teaching it to bark. Regular Show - Episode 6 Meat Your Maker

"Remember, you haven't seen me, right!"

Regular Show - Episode 5 Free Cake

Looks like the 'Network that brings cartoons' in the USA has clamped down on any YouTubers uploading the Regular Show. Luckily, someone out there hasn't been able to do it under the radar. I now feel like a dodgy geezer in a pub offering fake Rolex watches.

Introducing 'Regular Show' - like Mighty Boosh meets Ren and Stimpy

Image
Wow. Its been a while since I've seen anything this original, bizarre and funny at the same time. Characters you'd expect Noel Fielding to create, dialogue and lines from hilarious dope-smoking slackers and a cartoon style like Amos or Pete Fowler (Monsterism) . Cartoon Network has only just broadcast this series in the US but thank god for YouTube. Sit back and enjoy.

Another Venture Bros Season 4.2 trailer

Another smack in the physog for the UK Venture Bros. fan. This is another teaser trailer for the Adult Swim cartoon which won't be broadcasted on these shores for a least a year. Venture Bros: Season 4.2 (or volume 2) Trailer

Image
No idea when Adult Swim in the UK will ever broadcast the fourth series of Venture Brothers . This Saturday, FX UK will show episode 9 of 12 within Season 1 and their Facebook Fan page is ignoring my questions. We can only hope they will get to it next year. By that time I would have bought the DVD off Amazon.com (planned in March 2011) and watched it all. FX UK Adult Swim website Anywho, below is the trailer (thanks to Mantis-Eye Experiment ) for the second part of Season 4 to be broadcast in the US on 12th September. It was shown at the recent Comic-Con. Following Jackson Publick's blog , Venture Bros got split into two according to this blog entry . If you can't see the video try here . Logorama - Oscar winner of Best Animated Short Film

Image
The mainstream media has been full of Oscar news but there was an award that slipped the headlines which  deserved a little more exposure. Logorama won the Best Animated Short film beating Wallace and Gromit 's A Matter of Loaf and Deaf.  Part 1 Part 2 Related articles by Zemanta 1 reviews of A Matter of Loaf and Death (rateitall.com) Watch the Oscar-Nominated Animated Shorts, All in One Place (cinematical.com) The Oscar Shorts: What's Good, What's Bad, and What Will Win (nymag.com) Oscars 2010: nominations revealed (telegraph.co.uk)

Venture Brothers 4th season preview

Image
I don't often check Jackson Publick's blog (creator of the Venture Brothers ) that often as he doesn't write that regularly but today I noticed an exciting entry of Season 4 preview. There's a great quote of "I love Hitler and Hitler loves me!" with some Nazis featured in an episode. With a key character leaving in the last episode of Season 3 (won't ruin it for those haven't seen it) there are some clues as to who will replace that person.

Radio Soulwax at Brixton Academy

Image
Friday was all about seeing 2 Many DJs at Brixton Academy . We met up with Gavin and Candid for a catch up drink and found out they were playing from 12:30am. The queue was enormous but didn't take too long to get searched and enter the foyer which was getting the 'second room' treatment from a couple of DJs. Whilst we were about to get searched a right stoner in front was asked by security if he had any drugs. He answered yes(!) and questeioned whether they would still let him in?! Dude! At least try and hide them then lie! Pat and James from LCD Soundsystem were the main support DJs weren't going down very well mainly due to the sound quality. Only by turning up the EQ to maximum did they get any reaction though its mostly to do with being under the balcony. By about midnight it was getting seriously rammed and Kerry, who unfortunately had some minor skin surgery earlier with stomach stitches, was getting knocked about too much. Thankfully, the Belguim heroes came...

Bolt 3D

Image
We celebrated Sarah's birthday on Saturday, and with her feet still recovering from the operation, we could only walk as far as Wagamama (how unfortunate for us!) for another tasty katsu curry (described by James as addictive as curried KFC). We returned to Paul and Sarah's swapping gross-out slang meanings and checking out some urban legends and other slang meanings on the Urban Dictionary . The verbs, ' seagull ' and to ' donkey punch ' were explained. I've since remembered a couple more - ' Bakerloo ' and ' stroke the dog through the letterbox '. On Sunday, I managed to persuade Kerry into some training for Peru with 6 mile round walk to the cinema. Okay, so the journey didn't test us for steepness and altitude sickness but there's some long hills near where we live. Bolt 3D , the latest Pixar animation was preceded by an interesting trailer for Coraline (YouTube link), a stop-motion 3D film. It had a similar look to Nightmare be...

When Batman's busy, WALL-E cleans up

Image
NFH It's been a battlefield of nerves taking place in our back garden lately. When I mean nerves I mean tits as in 'getting on our' with the neighbours who live behind us winding us up with their public displays of non-affection. We're really regretting cutting down the tree as its just given them the incentive to use their backyard as a mini-Butlins. The father had a go at me last night for shining a torch at his windows! After the cinema I had to get the clothes in from the washing line and used a headband spotlight to see what I was doing in the backyard. Such a meathead! BBQ and Beach Middle-class moan over as we entertained Emma and James who are back from their Australasian adventure with beers, barbie and beach to celebrate. Nice to dust off the Wii tennis to some newbies. Brighton beach was full to busting on Sunday but found a spot near Hove lawn gardens where the annual charity bungy was taking place. WALL-E wonder Last night was 2 for 1 night on the town. I...

Strong Bad & Homestar Runner

Image
Whilst trawling through my normal daily web diet of games, email and random blogs I came across a game title named ' Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People'. Really daft name but its based on a web cartoon animation called Homestar Runner . There's a few videos to have a quick chuckle including a wrestling bloke called Strong Bad answering email letters. Can't be arsed checking out the website? Here's some embedded YouTube for instant satisfaction:

Venture Bros. Season 3 Preview Trailer

Image
I've been following the blog of Jason Publick , one of the creators of Venture Bros. for awhile now desperately waiting for some news on the third series. A few weeks ago they announced they'd almost finished the drawing and animation, and would be transmitting in June this year. Problem is it will be Cartoon Network in the US. The blog did also mention they're preparing the DVD so I'll be looking out for an import. Shame we sold the PS2 with multi-region. Anyway to keep us all happy they've released the Venture Bros Season 3 teaser .

Do you take ginger discount?

Image
Usually you have to be a child, student, OAP or Blue Peter badge owner to get entry discount. But the National Botanic Garden of Wales is offering free entry to ginger-haired people. Apparently, security guards will suss out and ginger-wigged gate-crashers. Special event to celebrate Ginger-ness will happen on Sunday 26th August. I AM SO THERE! Venture Bros.

Kerry’s yoga teacher recommended we try some legal highs called Purple Ohms. Last night was our first opportunity without any daytime commitment the next day. What turned to be a mild stomach ache then a few buzzy moments it carried on into a wide-eyed experience appreciating music a bit more but with a low attention span. Before taking them I’d bought a new Wii game called Eledees (previously called Elebits) after work. If you can imagine the plasma stream thing in Ghostbusters then picking up objects to find small sprites to collect power – that’s the game’s premise. Great idea using the Wii-motes which almost pulls it off but I think I’ll get bored of quite quickly. The evening continued channel surfing for anything music or comedy related. We ended on Bravo with their [adult swim] cartoon selection. After Afro Samurai came this amazing animation called Venture Bros . which blew us away with its hilarious scripting, characters and quality animation and style. A little web resear...

Summer's here...where the f*ck have you been?

Image
No complaints at the weather and only warms the anticipation of summer festivals and holidays. Still holding out from buying Global Gathering tickets as they refuse to offer Friday only tickets yet. I'm pretty sure everyone else is holding their wallets and breath so they can see Daft Punk without the camping fiasco. Wireless is the only commited festival so far though I can't believe they have Massive Attack and DJ Shadow headlining on separate stages. If they are on at the same time, Shadow be thy name as we've seen the Attack twice. First time was with their Mezzanine album and the majority of the band still together. Second time was a minor disaster thanks to an ex-friend making us wait, missing the first half of the performance. Haven't really spoke to her since. More sunny news is that we've booked our Ibiza holiday for late August. As well as staying at Casa de Cheese Spinner, we're looking to stay on the smaller island of Formentera for a couple...
