My helicopting, quad-biking, cocktail-boozing, fine-dining birthday in Brighton/Sussex

What a day! Some luxury birthday presents including a future trip to Minecart Madness near Snowdon. After breakfast I was blindfolded (ooh, kinky) and bundled into the car for a mystery tour by my missus. We drove for about 20 minutes and to my slight disappointment had turned up outside an office. When I got out of the car I realised we were at Shoreham Airport . As we walked towards another office I saw the exciting sign of Helifly ! After being greeted by the pilot and a few moments hanging around watching the seagulls getting moved on from the airfield we were treated to an aerial tour of the south coast past Brighton, turning inland after Rottingdean, over Lewes and headed back to Shoreham over the South Downs. Still with a smile on my face and my head still in the clouds we headed over to Devil's Dyke pub . Within the 7 years I've lived in Brighton, I'd never visited this landmark. More FlickR freaks

DSC_0214F Originally uploaded by Ginger DJ . Okay, this is getting creepy. This is the second fetish freak I've come across who's been stalking my FlickR photos. The Sock Fetish was just odd ( see my previous blog entry ). This time, well I'll let you decide if I should do anything to stop this stalking. FlickR has the function to check the recent activity of your photos i.e. how many views, how many have been made a favourite, comments made etc. Today this photo of me in a helicopter has been made a favourite for another FlickR user. Why? Its not a great shot so could it be the helicopter, the pilot, me?? I follow the link trail to find out who liked it that much to save it as favourite. Someone called Asicsboy who only takes photos of his Asics trainers and one of him in a mask. Another foot fetish freak! But no, the creepiness continues. His profile reads: "Guy into sneakers, headphones, hearing protectors/ear muffs and face masks...I'm Male and Single. U...

Image by Ginger DJ via Flickr I finally used my last birthday present from Kerry at the weekend driving up to Redhill for 2 hours of helicopter lessons. Excitement levels were sky high as well as the nerves as I wanted to get the very most out of the day as well as the possibility of taking it up for serious. With the inheritance money it could actually be feasible for me to change career. Before the briefing, we were shown around the hanger which stored all the expensive, privately owned choppers. One notable helicopter was owned by an arms dealer/manufacturer, owning the Heckler & Koch brand supplying many of the world's special forces' guns. The better choppers costing at least £2 million. The briefing was about 10 minutes explanation on the controls and the instructor telling me the rules of the lesson. I had to repeat that 'I have the controls' after receiving them just to make things safe. The other thing which caused some thought was the instructor infor...
