Flicking through our local Picture House cinema magazine and there's the odd film or two to get excited about. First of all, its not Mighty Boosh the movie but most of the cast and production team have created Bunny and the Bull which is out on 27th November. It looks like the same spanglely, dream-like, colourful look of the Boosh plus the characters look like Noel Fielding had too much cheese the night before and spawned from his dreams. The plot looks a little thin as a sort of road movie described as Sideways meets Withnail and I. Its already been shown at the Toronto International Film Festival but at the time of writing the web page wouldn't load properly as there seems to be a video file embedded. With Josh and Christie leaving so early in Sunday we took advantage of our lie-in privileges and went over to Worthing to see the International Worthing Birdman . If you're not familiar with this eccentric tradition, its basically a load of sponsored nutters who either build their own glider to get the most distance or dress up to hurl themselves off the pier. It was a good turn out thanks to the glorious weather though there was room for more. Saturday had the more serious competitors so we settled in for some leaping lemmings. All the contestants had their own backstory, charity and small comedy routine played to their own music. The weekend welcomed our Norfolk friends Josh, Christie and their two blond-bombshell daughters, Lily and Rachel. We had a boozy catch-up on Friday night taking advantage of our over-stocked cocktail supply then Saturday we had a family day out on Brighton Pier and the beach. For £20 you can get 30 tokens to pay for rides which doesn't stretch that far with two kids and four adults. The log flume was a greedy 4 tokens each which had just two splashes but broke down just before we tried going on. Finally got to play the legendary Dolphin Derby with Lily winning the prize. Otherwise it was watching the kids on slides and the carousel. We finished the day relaxing on the beach watching Josh swim out and some airplanes flying in for the Shoreham Air Show.

Another win under our belts for the Pond Pub Quiz on Thursday. Kinky Kev's Kitsch Kittens won us the runners up prize for team name - a bag of crisps. We won the music round as well trading in the dodgy bottle of wine for a round of shots if memory serves me well. Well done to Sukey and Julian, our new quiz-questadors for providing their own expertise. Don't think we can get away with 7 people next time though. Feeling like a Friday night in would suit us better we dragged ourselves out for a night at Audio , Brighton for Maxxi Broadcast 's Crazy P live PA. Crazy P have been around for years and changed their name from Crazy Penis. We got into the club quite early with the other friends of DJs but it didn't fill up as much as it deserved. I was impressed by some of the mash-up/remixes I heard even though I prefer my house tougher. Discovered this piece of art on Church Street, Brighton near the Library entrance. Its part of a new exhibition held at Prescription Art , the Old Music Library. Inside are more huge installations built from old crates, furniture and wood to resemble ehibition title, Robots.

After the previous weekend of excess, I thought we'd be ready for a quiet one until we decided to host a cocktail evening. Within a week we'd (perhaps) over-did the preparations with a cocktail menu and far too much booze ordered through Asda (surprisingly well-stocked with obscure spirits), Ocado (who stock Tuaca ) and a grand haul of Japanese beer, Shocho and plum wine ( Japan Centre ). The menu was scripted by Kerry on PowerPoint whilst I injected some themed style of using The Usual Suspects which got us in trouble with Kerry's work. It wasn't the cock in cocktail but the quote within the emailed document of 'Gimme the fuckin keys you fuckin cocksucker mutha fucka arrghhh!'. Something like foul, non-business language with sexual explicit under-tones. Ooops! Today I found the new Daft Punk tune for the not yet released film, Tron 2 or Tron Legacy. First impressions are that it's not a dance record but gets very hypnotic, building into complete crowd chaos if played live. The blog I found it is Chic Moustache Club but since returning to it the embedded clip has changed into the film's trailer. The audio clip can be found on The Hype Machine website . The video clip below is an interesting reveal of the new film's lightcycle design. As the press and fans enter the special room you get to see the draft drawings in the corridor then the main room shows a full sized lightcycle. Make sure you listen to the video camera owner getting very excited when he see the real bike. Another strange web discovery is this video of Thomas Bangalter making a surprise guest slot DJing three records with Busy P in LA - just him without the Daft Punk helmet. Although we've lived in Brighton for two years, we were Gay Pride virgins and our first experience was a wet and stressful one. The plan was to drop off all our stuff at Kev and Karol's in the North Laines which included laptop and stuff for DJing, drinks and a cake Kerry had made the night before (6 hours of chocolate labour). We wanted to catch some of the parade after this then collect enough willing mates to join us at the festival in Preston Park . When the taxi arrived for us at around 11:40am we bundled out without realising the front door key had been left in the lock. The last time this happened it cost me about £90 to get a locksmith out who used a type of bar. I'm not going to give away how I did it but got back into the house without another expensive call-out. Thursday night was a visit to the Pond pub on Gloucester Road, Brighton, opposite Paul and Sarah's house for some tasty Thai food and to take part in the weekly pub quiz. The food went down very well and at 8:30pm we'd paid £1 for each team member to the quizmaster, a character called Horace McSquirter(?). Our team name of Pirate Paul's Parrot Posse won us a prize for the funniest, thanks to Kerry, with a prize of some chocolate doughnuts. There were five rounds with a current affairs/news for the first, a topic round on Heroes, a picture round to identify famous people when they were children, a music round (a bonus round that didn't count towards the main points and a bottle of wine as the prize) and a multiple choice. We climbed the ranks through the rounds and playing the joker on the picture round we were 2 or 3 points off the leader. Couldn't believe I saw this through Facebook but there it was, an advert for a new film, straight to video, for a full-length feature starring the Flight of Conchords main cast including Murray! The film has its own website which interestingly is a co.uk site and not a co.nz. The cover looks slightly dodgy as well to be a little suspicious of its credibility. There's a trailer to view as well but I haven't found any reviews to say whether its any good or not. The website quotes Talksport Magazine review "as funny as Shaun of the Dead , more horrific than Severance". I've never heard of TalkSport but it looks like a Nuts clone for sport billys. Another Nintendo license to print money as you must buy another accessory for a future car boot sale/ebay listing. Plus, you need to buy another MotionPlus ('mote' sensor) if you want to play another person (another £20). Wii Sports Resort is another mini-game spoon feed for the causal/newbie gamer. The first few goes are simple, good clean fun but when you look for more depth its not there. The new sensor does work better than the Wii-mote especially when you compare the golf between both Sports games. Out of the 12 type of sports I keep going back to are Sword Fighting, Basketball, Archery, flying the airplane around the island and Table Tennis. Nintendo really should have added the online play to lengthen its play-life. I've been eye-ing up Wii Virtua-Tennis as the reviews say its the best tennis sim yet using the MotionPlus but after forking out £50+ I'm going to wait until ebay prices come down.

I was almost looking forward to this evening as much as the Ferrari racing day. Somehow I managed to get another three like-minded people from work to form a go-karting team to enter a Le Mans style competition at the Crawley track. It was supposed to be a competition between 'research' industry types but they'd only managed to get two teams of dentists and merged them with three semi-pro driver teams. With only myself and another having go-karted before it didn't bode well for racing success. The go-kart company was a little disorganised starting late and we didn't even get a chance to use our comedy team name of Stig's Sussex Love Children, instead we used my employer's name of IDS. We split the 2.5 hours into two sessions for each driver with myself starting for an 18 minute drive. I managed to scramble into third and kept us there until my time was up. I'd completely forgotten most of the book's content apart from Dumbledore dying, new teacher Slughornh and a lot of backstory about Voldemort so watching the film unfold to get to these key parts didn't make much difference to me. There were a few scenes which I think were devised to add some suspense but had nothing to do with the book as well as some funny teenage rom-com love stuff to keep it from being too dark. Overall, if you're patient with the slow burn its one of the best of the series if you can ignore the book details missing. Jim Broadbent is perfect for Slughorn and the cinematography is excellent.

W ednesday night was a fun one out with Viv and baby Amy as we took them to Brighton's finest fried finery, Bardsleys for an expensive fish and chip dinner. The staff are really friendly, there's a wine menu and their reputation for quality was proven with the best chips ever. The owner was very chatty and, as he was hanging around the entrance Norman Cook walked past and said hello. Weirdly he was carrying a large bin bag. The owner told us that Steve Coogan and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley from Harry Potter ) were also regular customers. Saturday started with a delivery of this Daft Punk cartoon artwork for our decorating masterplan. Domestic , a french decor website specialises in cool wall stickers to liven up plain walls. I'm liking the look of this forthcoming racing game. It looks like a cross between Burnout/Midnight Club with some cheat moves to slow competitors down. Looks like a 2010 release around February time according to Amazon. Shame, I wouldn't have minded this for Christmas.

I'd been praying for good weather all week for this and watching the forecasts like a hawk with a driving license. Luckily all that happened on the track was the odd flurry of drizzle. So after 2 and a bit hours of M25 and M3 traffic we made it to Thruxton , the other side of Andover to do my birthday present from Kerry. After a long briefing video, three of us were driven around the track in a Mazda 3MPS (hatchback) by an instructor who pointed out where to brake, accelerate, positioning of the track etc. The track had some useful cones to mark these useful points which were greatly appreciated later.
